Excerpt from a Book I’ll Probably Never Write II

He looked around the room and suddenly it was as if he was seeing for the first time. The girl alone at the bar, she just had her heart broken. She was trying not to cry. She needed to get out by herself. She neeeded time to heal.

The man sitting at the table by the door, he just lost his job. His wife was about to leave him. His world was falling apart and he was powerless to stop it.

But, the one that scared him the most was the girl surrounded by her friends and laughing. She was dying on the inside and none of them noticed. She laughed but her eyes were sad, hard. She danced, and the world thought she hadn’t a care in the world. But, she wanted to die. She smiled, yet she was on the verge of tears.

That was when he realized the truth. You never really know what is going on in someone’s mind. And that might be the scariest thing of all.
